Norfolk Youth Orchestra Tour to Wernigerode, Harz

Day 1 / Saturday 25 Jul

Coach collects from Professional Development Centre, 144 Woodside Road, Norwich, NR7 9QL at 2am

07:35 hrs – Ferry crossing from Dover to Calais, P&O

10:00 hrs – Arrives (local time) in Calais

10:00 hrs – Departure from Calais Ferry port to your accommodation in Wernigerode (772km, approx. 11hrs)

20:00 hrs – Approximate arrival time at your accommodation:

This is a comfortable high-grade youth hostel situated in a residential area up the hill from the main town.  The hostel has a downstairs bar, several rooms for rehearsals, a games area indoors and outdoors, and an outdoor football/basketball court. Each group staying in the hostel has their own room for meals, and a good buffet breakfast is provided.

From your accommodation to your concert venue in Goslar (39km, approx. 45mins)

15:30 hrs – 16:30 hrs – Free time

17:00 hrs – 18:30 hrs – Evening concert at the Stephani Church in Goslar

Day 3 / Monday 27 Jul

10:30 hrs – Departure from your accommodation to Bad Harzburg (30km, approx. 40mins)

11:15 hrs – 12:15 hrs – A trip on the Burgberg Cable car

Sway gently above the trees on this historic cable car from the spa town of Bad Harzbug. The cable car takes you nearly 500m up the Burgberg mountain, where you’ll get spectacular views of the Harz National Park

12:15 hrs – Own arrangements for lunch

14:00 hrs – Rehearsal at venue

17:00 hrs – Evening concert in the concert hall of Bad Harzburg

Day 4 / Tuesday 28 Jul 

A trip to the top of the Brocken on the Brockenbahn railway

Take a trip to the top of the Brocken, the highest mountain in Northern Germany, aboard the historic Brockenbahn narrow gauge steam railway. There are spectacular views from the top.

 

Visit to summer toboggan run at Schierke

Speed through the forest on this 400m long toboggan run, open all year round
